We went to the Shrine Circus in Springfield today. It was Cooper's first circus, so we were really excited to take him and to see his reaction to it. Well, his first reaction was not good at all. There were a bunch of clowns walking around talking to people as we were waiting in line. Cooper did NOT like them at all! In fact, he was PETRIFIED of them! He would grab onto me or Jim with a death grip, bury his face into our shoulder, and would not make eye contact at all! In fact, one time he almost started crying when Jim mentioned the clowns to him! As we were walking in the building, Cooper saw another clown and said, "Let's go to Cooper's house!" He was nearly in tears again. I started to think that going to the circus was a BIG mistake, but once we got up in our seats in the "nose-bleed section," he was just fine. Actually, even though we were on the very top row, we had a GREAT view--and it was the only row with padded seats, so that was nice! :) Anyway, it was a GREAT show, and Cooper ended up LOVING it! Uncle Rick bought him one of the very popular blue "light sabers" that he was THRILLED about! He said that his favorite thing about the circus was the elephants! Other cool things were the 7 motorcyclists that drove around simultaneously in a metal ball cage, the trapeze artists, and all the other stunt people! I was actually quite impressed with the show! Cooper was too--he would clap after every act and was totally mesmerized the rest of the time!
